No Spend December

December is finally over, and I'm happy to say I've finally fabricated it through this no spend yr claiming. I can't believe it's been a year! So, how did we off-white during the terminal month of the claiming?

No Spend Dec

I'm non going to lie, past the time December rolled around I was pretty much over this whole no-spend matter. But I still pushed through, and other than my altogether celebration weekend, I didn't actually spend much of my own coin during my no spend December.

Gift Coin

Did you take hold of that "my own money" part? That'southward how I got effectually this No Spend December challenge. Nosotros bought tons of things, merely all of it was with coin that was gifted to united states for Christmas spending. No one wants to hear that the coin they gave you to splurge on yourself went straight into a savings account. They want to hear that you bought yourself something fun with it, and that I did!

We spent tons of money on video game systems, games, and art supplies. It was an ballsy Christmas for the states! Not a bad investment either, since nosotros've been more happy to stay home every weekend since and just play our new games. It'southward given u.s.a. something new and fun that will continue usa occupied for months! Seriously, Breath of the Wild has an average play fourth dimension of 130 hours. That's a lot of quality engagement time on just one of the games we got.

Ok, for those of you hung upward on my use of the discussion "investment" – clearly a video game is not a real investment. Nosotros will never increase our profits on it, and we volition never be able to sell whatever of it for more coin. Information technology is, however, something that will proceed us occupied for hours upon hours, so we won't be tempted to go out and spend money elsewhere. And then it's an "investment" in the sense that information technology saves us money in other places.

But really, I'm simply very thankful to have people in my life who care enough to offer such a wonderful Christmas souvenir, and wanted us to enjoy information technology past buying tons of things.

Birthday Trip

The just other thing nosotros spent money during our no spend December was my birthday trip to New York City. Luckily, nosotros alive close enough to drive, but we wanted to spend a total weekend then we decided against a day trip. We spent most iii hundred dollars on a hotel, and some other hundred on pet sitting in order to brand it happen – merely it was well worth it. We got to see the MET – something that's been on my saucepan list since forever, sample a bunch of different dumplings in China Town, and meet up with some awesome people.

I budgeted half dozen hundred dollars for the trip and we managed to stay in upkeep. This is something that I'd been planning on doing since before I even had a no spend year challenge, and then I don't call up information technology counts against me.

Going Out to Eat

1 place where nosotros saw spectacular resilience during our no spend Dec claiming was in eating out. Yes, apparently we ate out while in New York, just since that is function of a trip it doesn't count. Other than that trip, the only time we didn't make something at home was New year'south Eve. We ordered a pizza from the cheap place across the street and rang in the New year (at 10 pm- I'yard too former to stay upward until midnight!) with video games and unhealthy foods. Go us!

The rest of the fourth dimension, we did an astonishing chore of cooking and eating at domicile. I did splurge and get some seafood for Christmas dinner – information technology cost almost forty bucks (eek!) but lasted us for 3 meals. Forty bucks for three seafood dinners is much cheaper than what nosotros'd take paid in a restaurant though!
